Your arrival at destination
Transportation from airport to Copenhagen
If you enter Denmark via the Copenhagen Airport, you can conveniently board the train for Copenhagen Central Station with its many connections to the rest of Denmark, or take the metro to downtown Copenhagen, Frederiksberg and Vanlose.
By train
If you go by train, a Zone 3 ticket is required (DKK 28.50) to get from the airport to the central station. The train station at the airport is situated right below the terminal building.
By metro
The metro runs every 4 minutes in the daytime, and every 15 minutes at night. A Zone 2 ticket (DKK 18) or a Zone 3 ticket (DKK 28.50) is required, depending on where you intend to get off. The metro stop is in an extension of Terminal 3.
Train and Metro tickets can be purchased at the Airport DSB Travel Centre situated right next to the exit.
By taxi
On average the cost to the centre of Copenhagen will be about DKK 190 during the daytime, DKK 200 during the evening, and DKK 250 at night and on weekends.
Hotel check-in
Upon arrival at your hotel, please identify yourself at the front desk with your Air Canada Vacations voucher. You will then be assigned your accommodation. Passport must be presented upon check in.
Hotel check-in times may vary depending on the hotel but is generally 3 p.m.

Shopping
The city's main shopping area is centred on the longest pedestrian street in Europe, Stroget, and the charming 17th-century streets surrounding it. Apart from Magasin du Nord, the biggest department store in Scandinavia, Copenhagen boasts hundreds of boutiques, restaurants, and cafés. Danish design items such as Bang & Olufsen stereos, Royal Copenhagen porcelain and Georg Jensen silverware, are world famous. All have flagship stores in Copenhagen.
Tipping
Service charges are automatically added to the hotel and restaurant bill in Denmark, so no further tipping is required as such. Tipping for outstanding service is a matter of choice, but is not expected.

Water
Water in Copenhagen is safe to drink.
Electricity
Electricity in Denmark is AC 220 V, 50 Hz. Sockets use the round-pin European system. Most hotels have adaptors.
Currency
The currency in Denmark is Danish Kroner (DKK).
Banking
Danish banks are usually open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Normally the banks are open until 6 p.m. on Thursday. Banks are not open on weekends.
Long distance calls
Telephone calls from your hotel to Canada can be very expensive and service charges are high.
Prepaid calling cards are readily available.

The native tongue is Danish, but English is widely spoken.

Emergency
You can ask for a doctor or a dentist through your hotel. Keep all your receipts.
Tourists requiring urgent medical care should go to the nearest hospital emergency room (airports and many train stations also have medical teams and first aid facilities). Pharmacies generally follow shop times (approx. from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday, but in large cities many are open non-stop).
