Your arrival at destination

Transportation from airport to Frankfurt

Flughafen Frankfurt Main is the biggest airport on the continent, second in Europe only to London's Heathrow. The airport is 10 km southwest of the downtown area along the A-5 autobahn and has its own railway station for the high-speed InterCity (IC) and InterCity Express (ICE) trains.

By train

The most convenient way to the city is the S-bahn 8 (suburban train) which runs from Terminal 1 to downtown.

Most travelers get off at the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) or at Hauptwache, in the heart of Frankfurt. Trains run at least every 15 minutes, and the trip takes about 15 minutes. The one-way fare is €3.35.

By bus

Frankfurt airport has one main bus terminal. The bus terminal is right in front of the Terminal 1 arrivals hall.

By taxi

A taxi from the airport into the city centre normally takes around 20 minutes; allow double that during rush hours. The fare is around €25.

Hotel check-in

Upon arrival at your hotel, please identify yourself at the front desk with your Air Canada Vacations voucher. You will then be assigned your accommodation. Passport must be presented upon check in.

Water

Water in Frankfurt is safe to drink. However, Germans usually don't drink tap water, and restaurants will not serve you a free glass of water; bottled water is much more common

Electricity

Electricity in Germany is AC 220 V, 50 Hz. Sockets use the round-pin European system. Most hotels have adaptors.

Currency

The currency in Germany is the Euro.

Banking

In general banks are open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. On Wednesdays smaller branches are often closed, and larger banks may close at 1 p.m.. Banks frequently stay open until 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
