It is your sole responsibility to ensure that you - and any child travelling with you - have all the travel documents necessary to enter in, or transit through, each country on your itinerary. Please ensure you verify the requirements for each country as the required documents for the outbound portion of your travel may differ from those required on the return.

Airport check in
It is recommended that you present yourself at the airport counter of the airline indicated on your voucher 3 hours prior to departure. Air Canada representatives are available to assist you, or you may contact an Air Canada Vacations representative at 1-800-296-3408.
Your arrival at destination
At the airport
An Air Canada Vacations representative will guide you to your ground transportation desk once you have cleared immigration and customs. (Porters expect $1 US or equivalent for per bag).
Transfer
The Air Canada Vacations Representative will guide you to our ground handler desk for the transfer to your accommodation.
Hotel check in
Upon arrival at your hotel, please identify yourself at the front desk with your Air Canada Vacations voucher. You will then be assigned your accommodation. The majority of hotels’ check in is between 2:00 PM & 4:00 PM. It is recommended to pack essential items in your carry on luggage.
Your departure from destination
Departure information
Your departure details will be given to you by our representative. The day before you leave, do not forget to consult the Air Canada Vacations bulletin board in your hotel for updates on your departure procedures and return flight. At hotels which do not allow bulletin boards, please inquire about last minute changes at the guest relations desk.
Hotel check out
Hotel check out times may vary depending on the property, but generally you must vacate your room between 11 a.m. and noon. For passengers with late flights we will attempt to provide a hospitality room based on space availability.
Duty-free shopping
Duty-free shops are located at the airport and in town. After an absence of 7 days or more, Canadian residents are permitted to return with a maximum of $750 CAD of merchandise per trip without paying duty. Each time you leave Canada for at least 48 hours, you are eligible to declare up to $200 CAD of merchandise. A written declaration may be requested. Each adult is allowed 1 litre of liquor, one (1) carton of cigarettes and 50 cigars duty-free. If you include cigarettes, tobacco sticks and loose tobacco in your personal exemption allowance, only a partial exemption will apply. You will have to pay a minimum duty on these products unless they are marked “Canada - Duty paid”. Canadian made products sold at a duty-free shop will be marked in this way.

Procedures are the same as for departures from Canada. If you hold an Air Canada Vacations ticket only your departure tax is prepaid. Passengers holding any other tickets should verify with the airline at destination. Check in counters are closed one hour prior to departure.

Long distance calls
Please note if placing the call from your hotel room, ask the hotel operator about connection service charges. Using a pay phone will avoid these service charges from the hotel.

You can ask for a doctor or a dentist through your hotel. Please contact your Air Canada Vacations Representative if you require assistance. Keep all your receipts.

Business hours: Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. One Canadian bank is represented: Scotia Bank.
Currency
The Jamaican & US dollar are the legal tender in all transactions. Traveller's cheques and Canadian or US dollars can be exchanged at the airport exchange bureau, at any bank or your hotel cashier. The best rates of exchange are at the bank or cambio and it is recommended to exchange only a little at a time. You can exchange your remaining Jamaican dollars at the airport, but only prior to your flight departure providing you have kept your exchange receipts.
Credit cards
Credit cards such as: Visa, American Express and MasterCard are accepted. Automated Teller Machines (ATM) are available for international transactions at the airport and some banks.
Shopping
Stores are generally open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and closed on Sunday. Good bargains at duty-free shops for cameras, jewelry and perfume in Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. You can also buy batik, wood carvings and straw goods. Black coral and turtle shells items will be confiscated by Canadian customs since they are produced from endangered species. We recommend you do not buy these items.
Local transportation
Public transportation in Montego Bay, Ocho Rios & Negril is available, although local buses outside these areas are not recommended. Taxis are not metered, so ask the fare before getting in.
Car rental
Available through your Air Canada Vacations Representative. Valid Canadian driver's license is required. Remember to drive on the left in Jamaica. A credit card or a cash deposit of approx. $1000 US is required and the minimum driver’s age is between 21 and 25, depending on the car rental company.
Sightseeing
Optional excursions are a great way to enhance your Air Canada Vacations holiday. Choose from a wide variety of activities and excursions available at your destination. Tipping
