Entry requirements
A valid Canadian passport is required for Canadians intending to visit Italy. The passport should be valid for at least the expected duration of stay in the country. For all other nationalities, consult your consulate or tourist board for details. You can also visit www.voyage.gc.ca for up-to-date information.

Airport check-in
It is recommended that you present yourself at the airport counter of the airline indicated on your voucher 3 hours prior to departure. Air Canada or Air Canada Vacations representatives will be available starting at 5 a.m.

City highlights
Naples city centre is compact and full of grand palaces, impressive churches, monasteries, convents, castles and other splendid buildings. Places of particular interest include the Duomo – an ancient cathedral that was built between 1294 and 1323; the Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace) – a superb example of the wonderful Italian architecture that can be found in this historic city; the Teatro San Carlo – an Opera theatre that features a unique backdrop, that can be removed to reveal the gardens of the Palazzo Reale; the Museo Archeologico Nazionale (National Archaeological Museum) – full of some of the most comprehensive collections in Italy; and the Napoli Sotterranea – a fascinating series of underground tunnels, passageways, stairs, rooms and halls, right in the heart of Naples.
Naples stretches along the waterfront and throughout the city there are many squares, parks and the Orto Botanico (Botanical Gardens), with an enormous collection of exotic plants from all over the world. The Galleria Umberto at Via San Carlo is definitely worth visiting, as much for the architecture as for the many stores inside.
Getting around
Much of Naples is pedestrian friendly and there is an excellent bus network and local railway in the area.
Taxis
Taxis are plentiful in the city centre. They can, however, be expensive.
Bus
In front of the central railway station in Naples (Stazione Centrale) at the Piazza Garibaldi is the main bus station. From here there are a number of popular routes that travel to all of the main towns and places of interest in the region.
Train
Naples is served by a full range of trains; include Regionale, Diretto, Espresso, Intercity, Eurostar, and ETR450 fast trains
Naples is also home to a complex network of boats, ferries and hydrofoils run by many different companies. These ferries can take you out to Capri, Ischia and the Amalfi Coast among others.
Shopping
Naples is renowned for its pride in craftsmanship and if you want to see real craftsmen at work, simply wander around any of the narrow streets in the centre of Naples. You can also admire the wonderful monuments, statues and fountains as you walk downtown for some serious Naples shopping.
Be sure to check out Naples’s downtown or historic districts to find the most unusual gifts and trinkets, art, antiques, and clothing. The markets are also a must.
Dining
Naples, Italy is full of wonderful and exciting places to eat out, with a wide choice of every kind of food imaginable. The many stylish locations in Naples and wide variety of superb, mouth-watering menus, often with an emphasis on fish, make Naples dining an enjoyable experience. Many restaurants have spectacular views.
Pasta combined with excellent local produce, such as fresh tomatoes, olive oil and rich, creamy Italian cheeses all combine to create the wonderful and delightful flavours associated with Italy. Naples is also renowned for its splendid pizzas, which come in a wide range of flavours.
Sightseeing
Naples is a delightful Italian city when it comes to sightseeing, and there are many appealing tourist attractions spread all over the city.
Particularly notable are the Piazza Matteotti, the Grandoni Di Chiaia, and the very grand San Carlo Theatre (Teatro San Carlo), an acclaimed opera house that is now listed as a World Heritage Site. Tourist attractions for families are easy to come by and include the city's Aquarium (Acquario) and the Edenlandia theme park, which has a host of exciting fairground rides, thrilling roller coasters, a 3D cinema and several restaurants.
Entertainment & nightlife
Naples has a wide range of activities to tempt all lovers of the outdoors. Naples' sporting calendar is full of exciting events throughout the year.
The Neapolis Rock Festival attracts many top international acts and is held in midsummer.
There are countless restaurants, cafés and bars in Naples, many with great views of the city and bay front.

Hotel checkout
Hotel checkout times may vary depending on the property but generally you must vacate the room by noon.
Duty-free shopping
After an absence of 7 days or more, Canadian residents are permitted to return with a maximum of CAD$750 of merchandise per trip without paying duty. Each time you leave Canada for at least 48 hours, you are eligible to declare up to CAD$400 of merchandise. A written declaration may be requested. Each adult is allowed 1.1 litres (40 oz.) of liquor, 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or cigarillos, 200 tobacco sticks and 200 grams (7 oz.) of manufactured tobacco. To calculate the number of days absent, do not count the day you left Canada but include the day you return. If you include cigarettes, tobacco sticks and loose tobacco in your personal exemption allowance, only a partial exemption will apply. You will have to pay a minimum duty on these products unless they are marked “Canada-Duty paid”. Canadian made products sold at duty-free shops will be marked this way.
