Nesting Season
Guests can enjoy unbelievable and unique moments swimming with Sea Turtles that live in the waters of Akumal Bay.
The nesting of sea turtles is one of nature’s most amazing spectacles. Two species nest along the beach from May to October*. Sea turtles are most frequently seen when the females come ashore to deposit their eggs on beaches, usually at night.
If you are lucky enough to see the turtles on the beach it is important to remember:
Akumal Beach Resort works closely with the Ecological Centre of Akumal to give its guest more information about protection and nesting of Turtles.
*The dates of hatching turtles can vary according to the conditions of nature.
