The Caribbean of a bygone era

Excursions in Samana

Whale watching
Starting in January 2012, you'll have the opportunity to go whale watching in Samana. During this tour, you'll be able to get up close with Earth's largest and most fascinating mammals.

Los Haitises
Board a speedboat to cross the bay of Samana to  Los Haitises National Park.  Discover a sanctuary of birds that reign over a multitude of small islands and mangroves, caves with stalagmites and stalactites as well as ancient paintings and sculptures that represent the gods of the Taino Indians native to this island.  Then it’s off to Cayo Levantado (Bacardi Island) for a scrumptious lunch after which you will head back to Samana pier.

Jeep safari
Spend an unforgettable day aboard our 18-person truck with spectacular views of the rural countryside and mountainous peninsula of Samana. Visit a farm and see how the locals grow tropical fruits and vegetables and  even try the local produce including coffee and cacao.  An untamed beach awaits your discovery plus a hidden waterfall deep in the tropical jungle. Then it’s off to Monte Rojo & Loma de la Pina along a winding country road with a spectacular view of the Bay of Samana.

El Limon Waterfalls
Explore the interior of the Samana peninsula where the mountain range reaches an altitude of almost a thousand metres. On arrival at Rancho La Manzana, horses await to take you up a mountain. After 40 minutes on horseback, you will discover El Limon Waterfall. At the foot of the falls, a large pool entices you to a swim. Then it’s back up to the horses for your ride down to the ranch where lunch will be served in a typical setting.

Catamaran sailing
Board our catamaran with a welcome cocktail. Tour the bay of Samana till we reach the shores of Cayo Farola for some snorkelling. Then its off to Cayo Levantado to enjoy the white sand beach and sparkling waters. Lunch will be served under the shade of coconut palms. Around 3 in  the afternoon, set sail again for your trip back. Merengue music and a last drink close a spectacular day in the bay  of Samana.
